The Legend of the Woods – Uncle Istvan

Chapter 1: The Legend of the Woods
The village of Nemea nestled at the edge of the dense, sprawling forest known as the Veilwood, held many secrets and stories passed down through generations. Tales whispered over crackling fires told of an ancient being residing deep within the woods—a hermit named Uncle István. His name, often spoken in hushed tones, was synonymous with fear and mystery. Parents warned their children not to stray too far, lest István catch their scent.

István was no ordinary hermit; he was a figure cloaked in dread and fascination. Legends claimed he had lived for over a thousand years, sustained by dark, unholy arts and an insatiable appetite for human flesh. In every corner of Nemea, his story was known, yet no one dared venture into the Veilwood to confirm the rumors. They were content to let István’s existence remain a mystery, a dark cautionary tale.

In the depths of the forest, beneath the tangled canopy that blocked out the sun, lay the decaying remnants of István’s home—a small, rickety cabin surrounded by wild thorns and ancient, twisted trees. No one knew how long it had stood there, but its presence was as much a part of the forest as the trees themselves. It was here that István, with his gaunt frame and sunken eyes, lived his eternal life, hiding from the world.
