Intense Shootout Erupts Seconds After Police Stop Suspect

Grand Rapids, Michigan — On December 6, 2025, earlier in the day, a woman contacted Grand ...Rapids police to report a domestic situation involving a gun. She told officers that the 51-year-old man had threatened her, and although police went to the home, he refused to come to the door or talk to them. Hours later, the same woman called 911 again, this time saying the man was intoxicated, armed, and sending disturbing messages. These escalating warnings caused officers to return to the neighborhood to check on his welfare and prevent him from potentially hurting himself or others. While officers were preparing a careful approach to the home, they saw the man leave the house, get into a car, and start driving away.
Because he was reportedly armed, intoxicated, and making threats, officers decided they had to stop him before he reached anyone he had threatened. After pulling him over on Tremont Boulevard, officers gave repeated commands for him to turn off the car. Within seconds of the traffic stop, the man opened fire from inside the vehicle, shooting multiple rounds toward the officers. The officers immediately returned fire, hitting him several times. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The entire gunfire exchange lasted only a few seconds, and the state police are now handling the investigation. Family members have since revealed that he had been struggling emotionally following the unsolved killing of his son and had recently expressed both despair and volatile behavior involving a firearm.

IMPD Officers Fire on Reaching Suspect Who Turned Out To Be Unarmed

Indianapolis, Indiana — On October 2, 2025, at about 5:55 p.m., detectives with IMPD's North District ...Violence Reduction Team and Violent Crimes Task Force were conducting a felony warrant investigation in the 900 block of north grant avenue. Detectives surrounded a detached garage where 36-year-old Cartonieo McBride was believed to be hiding. An IMPD child Abuse Detective requested that McBride be located for his open warrants. Detectives were briefed prior to arrival that McBride had warrants for unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, unlawful possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, theft, robbery, and driving while suspended. McBride exited the garage with his hands raised and initially complied with detectives' commands.
McBride approached detectives but then stopped short. Detectives continued to give him commands. Detective Virt explained to McBride the reason he was being detained. When directed to turn around, McBride said, "I'm not doing none of that." McBride turned and began reaching. Detective Hunter deployed her less lethal taser. Detective Jones then discharged his service weapon. McBride ran and then fell to the ground. Detectives gave commands for him to keep his hands visible. McBride rolled away from detectives and began reaching. Detectives Virt and Hunter discharged their service weapons. Additional officers arrived with a ballistic shield and safely approached McBride, who was placed into custody and provided medical aid. Medics arrived and transported McBride to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.
McBride was arrested for the following warrants:

Seattle Police Officers Open Fire After Suspect Points Gun at Them

Seattle, Washington — On December 2, 2025, at about 1:30 p.m., the Seattle Police Department (SPD) ...received multiple 911 calls about a man waving a gun near 42nd Ave. S. and S. Othello St. Responding officers found a man with a gun and attempted de-escalation tactics including commands to drop his weapon. The man did not comply, pointing a gun at the officers who then they fired their weapons. One officer used a handgun, another used a rifle. According to the Seattle Police, the man was still holding his gun when he was shot, and officers used a 40mm less-lethal round to knock the gun out of his hand before starting CPR. SPD rendered medical aid , but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the man who was shot has not been released. No officers were injured. A bystander who was in an apartment building was hurt by shattered glass and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Pawnee County Sheriff Confronts Cleveland Police Officers Over a Search Warrant

Cleveland, Oklahoma — Newly released body-camera video shows Cleveland Police planned to serve a search warrant ...inside Pawnee County. Because Cleveland officers were cross-deputized, they were legally allowed to work cases there. According to Cleveland Police, their chief notified the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office two weeks before the warrant was to be served, asking whether the sheriff’s deputies were working any related investigation. The sheriff’s office reportedly said no, and Cleveland officers continued preparing the warrant, which a judge later approved. On the night of October 28, 2025, Cleveland officers gathered at their police station for a briefing before heading out to execute the warrant. A Pawnee County deputy had been told the night before and was on the way to attend the briefing. Moments after the officers met, Sheriff Shawn Price arrived unexpectedly at the station, upset that he had only learned about the warrant 15 minutes beforehand. Price confronted the officers, raising his voice and questioning why they were moving forward without involving him in the planning. He later said that if something went wrong during the operation, he would be held responsible for an event he had no role in coordinating. The confrontation was captured on body-camera video and led Cleveland Police to revoke their cross-deputation agreement with the Sheriff’s Office, meaning officers are no longer taking calls in the County. Although the disagreement escalated, the District Attorney reviewed the footage and found that no crime occurred.

Woman Flees In Stolen Car Until Grappler Stops Her

Clark County, Washington — On December 2, 2025, around 8:00 p.m., Clark County Deputies were investigating ...a residential burglary and vehicle theft in Northeast Vancouver. The suspect reportedly entered a garage, stole a vehicle containing a firearm, and fled. A short time later, officers learned the stolen vehicle was parked at the Starbucks near W. Main St. and SR-503 in Battle Ground. Battle Ground Police responded, located the vehicle, and believed the suspect was still inside. With a firearm involved and the risk of flight high, officers requested additional resources—including CCSO units equipped with a Grappler pursuit immobilization system. When deputies and officers moved in, the suspect accelerated, dodged patrol vehicles, and sped out of the lot.
A pursuit began, during which stop sticks were deployed. Despite damaged tires, the suspect continued driving until CCSO utilized the Grappler to immobilize the vehicle near Northeast 72nd Ave and SR 502 in Dollars Corner. The suspect then rammed two patrol cars, causing significant damage to one of them. Deputies had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. Deputies then pinned the vehicle and safely took the driver into custody. No deputies were injured. The suspect, 40-year-old Danielle Crosby, was arrested on multiple felony charges, including Residential Burglary, Motor Vehicle Theft, Firearm Theft, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, two counts of Assault II, and Felony Attempting to Elude. Crosby, a convicted felon, is a prohibited possessor of firearms. She also has previous charges for unlawful possession of firearms. She was booked into the Clark County Jail.

Colorado Springs Officer Fires After Man Points BB Gun at Him

Colorado Springs, Colorado — On Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11:28 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police ...Department received a call for service of a burglary in progress, potentially involving a firearm, in the 500 block of South Nevada Avenue. The caller stated that earlier in the evening, a man had been at the location and had assaulted an individual, leading to a brief fight. The man then left, threatening to return with a gun. The reporting party stated that the man in question had now returned and was banging on his door and was potentially armed with a firearm. At approximately 11:41 p.m., a CSPD officer arrived on scene. The officer did not observe any active disturbance and was attempting to contact the reporting party from the 911 call.
As the officer was walking toward the reporting party's room to contact him, the reporting party emerged from behind a locked hallway security door. About two seconds later, three individuals, two males and a female, exited a separate room into the walkway between the reporting party and the officer. One of the males was carrying a rifle, and the other male was carrying an unknown weapon. The male with the rifle raised it at the officer. At that time, the officer fired four shots, striking two individuals, the male and female who were standing very close to the male who raised his rifle toward the officer. The officer then moved downstairs to find cover. About one minute later, the suspect who had raised the rifle toward the officer appeared on the second-floor walkway, stating that two people had been shot who needed help.
When the individual who had raised the rifle at the officer appeared on the second-floor walkway, reporting that two people had been shot, he was cooperative and was taken into custody without further incident. While that was happening, other officers who had arrived on scene began rendering medical aid to the male and the female who had been shot. Both people who were shot were transported to a local hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. The rifle recovered on scene was a Crosman AK1 full-auto air cartridge BB gun. Two other edged weapons were recovered on the scene. They are consistent with the object that the male who was shot was seen carrying. The Officer involved in this shooting is Austin Hornburger, assigned to the Downtown Area Response Team and has been employed with CSPD for 9 years. The individual with the rifle was questioned and released pending additional investigation. At the time, he has not been charged with a crime and is not being identified.

Miami-Dade County, Florida — On September 16, 2025, Miami-Dade deputies were dispatched to the Goulds neighborhood ...after a series of urgent 911 calls reported a man threatening people with a gun near a local grocery store. Callers told dispatchers that a man inside a gray Honda Odyssey was pointing a firearm at passersby and causing panic in the area around Southwest 216th Street and 120th Avenue. Because the situation involved an armed suspect actively menacing the public, a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office sergeant was among the first to respond.
When the sergeant arrived, he located the van and approached the driver, later identified as 44-year-old Jose Pineda Jr. The sergeant ordered him multiple times to show his hands, but Pineda refused and responded with a statement claiming he didn’t have any hands. Moments later, the encounter escalated instantly when both the sergeant and Pineda opened fire. The sergeant backed away while returning shots and took cover behind a nearby truck as bullets struck both vehicles. The gunfight ended when Pineda exited the van injured and collapsed, with his gun beside him. He was taken to the hospital but later died from his wounds. No deputies were hurt, and state investigators are now reviewing the shooting, as is standard protocol.

Bagley, Minnesota — On November 13, 2025, just after 12 p.m., a Clearwater County Deputy recognized ...75-year-old Dennis Hoie at a gas station on Central Street West in Bagley and attempted to arrest him on outstanding felony warrants. Hoie resisted, fled in his pickup truck, and was pursued by deputies and a Bagley police officer. Hoie drove onto U.S. Highway 2 and later northbound on McDougal Avenue Northwest, where a Bagley police officer performed a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) maneuver, causing Hoie’s vehicle to spin out and stop in a residential driveway. Deputies and the Bagley officer approached the vehicle on foot and attempted to get Hoie to exit. During the attempt to get Hoie to exit the vehicle, Deputy Hallman broke the glass of the passenger side window of the pickup truck as Hoie pulled a flare gun and fired it toward the deputies on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Deputy Hallman fired his handgun through the passenger side window striking Hoie. Medical aid was rendered to Hoie, but he was pronounced deceased on the scene. A deputy on the driver’s side of Hoie’s vehicle sustained a graze injury to his head that did not require medical attention.

Little Elm, Texas — On November 25, 2025, a Little Elm Police Officer spotted a goat ...roaming along the edge of a busy roadway, apparently after escaping its enclosure. Concerned that the animal could be hit by a passing car, the officer pulled over to guide it out of danger. As he approached, the goat stayed surprisingly calm, allowing the officer to coax it toward his patrol vehicle. Once the goat climbed into the back seat, the situation turned humorous, the officer jokingly “read it its rights,” treating the encounter like a playful mock arrest. The light-hearted exchange was captured on bodycam, and after ensuring the goat was safe, the officer contacted the owner to come retrieve it.

Carjacking Suspect Shot After Vape Pen Thought To Be Knife

Las Vegas, Nevada — On November 23, 2025, at approximately 12:26 p.m., LVMPD officers responded to ...a carjacking in progress at an apartment complex in the 5100 block of Indian River Drive. The victim stated that the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Wade David Griffith, was armed with a knife and had threatened him. As officers arrived, they encountered Griffith near the entrance of the complex. Officers issued verbal commands and attempted to take him into custody. At some point, a physical altercation between Griffith and two officers occurred. During the fight, Griffith produced what officers believed to be a knife, causing an officer to discharge his firearm.
Griffith was struck by gunfire and taken into custody. Medical personnel transported Griffith to a nearby hospital in stable condition. Throughout the course of the investigation, Metro police learned that Griffith was holding a vape pen with a closed fist during the struggle. Police believe he was holding a vape pen while he made the “swiping” motion toward the officers. Inside Griffith’s backpack, police found a large, fixed-blade knife in a sheath as well as a second empty sheath for a large knife. However, at the time of the shooting, police believe he was holding the vape pen. Griffith was arrested on two counts of robbery with the use of a deadly weapon, two counts of battery with the use of a deadly weapon against an officer, and two counts of resisting a public officer with the use of a deadly weapon.

Suspect Throws First Punch Before Engaging Officer in Fight

Newtown, Connecticut — On November 23, 2025, members of the Newtown Police Department responded to a ...911 call reporting a disturbance in the area of Hanover Road. Upon arrival, Officer Hyvarinen made contact with the involved party, identified as 40-year-old Daniel Morris. During the encounter, Morris initially raised his hands in an apparent gesture of surrender. Without warning, Morris then struck Officer Hyvarinen in the face with a closed fist. As Officer Hyvarinen, who was operating alone at the time, attempted to gain control of the situation, Morris actively resisted and placed the officer in a headlock/chokehold. Officer Hyvarinen successfully disengaged by lifting the 220-pound suspect overhead and breaking free from the hold.
The physical altercation continued on the ground, during which Morris struck Officer Hyvarinen in the face a second time. Officer Hyvarinen ultimately gained control of Morris through lawful use of force proportionate to the threat presented. Both Officer Hyvarinen and Morris sustained minor facial injuries during the incident. Morris was evaluated on scene by emergency medical personnel and subsequently transported to Danbury Hospital, where he was medically cleared. Daniel Morris was placed under arrest and charged with the following offenses under the Connecticut General Statutes: Assault on Public Safety Personnel, Interfering with an Officer/Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct. Morris was held on a $75,000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Danbury Superior Court (GA #3) on November 24, 2025, at 9:30 a.m..

K9 Duo Brings Down Kenosha Shooting Suspect in a Muddy Field

Kenosha County, Wisconsin — On October 16, 2025, late Sunday night, 29-year-old Jake Wenzel went to ...a home on 268th Avenue where his girlfriend’s family lived. Earlier, Wenzel had been involved in an argument with the victim, his girlfriend’s sister, before she left the house. When she returned, she parked in the driveway and ran inside through a back entrance, knowing the confrontation wasn’t over. Moments later, Wenzel showed up in a silver Dodge Ram, got out while holding a handgun, and approached her vehicle demanding she come out. The victim’s sister, who owned the home, confronted Wenzel and told him to leave. Instead of backing down, Wenzel allegedly turned toward the house and fired at least one shot into the residence before fleeing in his truck.
The incident triggered an extensive overnight search, and deputies later found Wenzel’s pickup abandoned in a wooded subdivision, prompting officials to warn residents to stay indoors as the manhunt stretched into the next morning. Detectives eventually traced Wenzel to a motel in Union Grove, where surveillance efforts unfolded into a tense vehicle stop and high-speed chase through rural Racine County. According to officials, Wenzel sped away, jumped a curb, and continued driving until one of his tires disintegrated, forcing him into a muddy field near the Ellsworth Correctional Center. When he attempted to run, two sheriff’s K-9s were deployed and subdued him, bringing the pursuit to an end. Wenzel, who has a prior criminal record and was already out on bond, now faces a slate of new charges in both Kenosha and Racine counties.
