Shoreline, Washington — On October 16, 2024, Shoreline Police responded to reports of a man who ...had barricaded himself inside a 7-Eleven store after shoving a clerk and shutting off the lights. Initially feared to be armed, the man prompted a heightened police response, with cruisers surrounding the convenience store. Employing a drone equipped with lights and a camera, officers were able to safely locate the suspect hiding in a backroom without endangering personnel. Startled by the drone, the man surrendered without further incident, exiting the store into the custody of King County deputies.

Man Gets Stuck in Chimney Trying to Evade Police

Fall River, Massachusetts — On the evening of December 10, 2024, Detectives of the Community Action ...& Suppression Team (CAST) executed a search warrant for 127 Canal Street. During the application of said search warrant, two males fled from the residence via rooftop. One male eluded capture by bounding from the roof and onto a parked vehicle. The other male, later identified as 33-year-old Robert Langlais, invoked the essence of the seasonal icon and attempted to hide inside of a chimney.
Langlais quickly became stuck in the chimney and required the assistance of the very detectives he was previously fleeing from. With the help of the Fall River Fire Department and Fall River Emergency Medical Services, Langlais was rescued and taken into custody. Langlais was transported to a local hospital out of precaution and was medically cleared. He was formally arrested for Possession of Class A drugs, Possession of Class B drugs and a slew of charges from outstanding warrants. Also present and arrested, was 32-year-old Tanisha Ibay, for the charges of Possession of Class A drugs and Possession of Class B drugs.

Three Day Manhunt Ends as Officer Shoots Fleeing Suspect Inside Vehicle

Reno, Nevada — On Saturday, November 16, 2024, just before 11 p.m., Reno Police Officers conducted ...a traffic stop on an unlicensed, gray Suburban at Sutro. The driver of the vehicle, 25-year-old Kristopher Gari, had a revoked driver's license and a warrant for his arrest. Officers asked Kristopher to exit the vehicle to detain him, while confirming his warrant. While attempting to detain him, Kristopher resisted arrest and ultimately fled from officers in his vehicle. Officers were unable to locate Kristopher or the vehicle. Now in addition to the warrant, officers had probable cause to arrest Kristopher for eluding, resisting an officer and additional traffic charges. On Sunday, November 17, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Twin Lakes Drive, on the report of a suspicious vehicle, parked on private property. When officers arrived on scene, they immediately realized that the suspicious vehicle was the same vehicle from the incident the day before.
When Kristopher returned to his vehicle, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Kristopher then fled from the stop, hitting several patrol cars while fleeing. Officers attempted to locate Kristopher in the vehicle in the area but were unable to. In addition to the charges Kristopher was wanted for from the incident the day prior, he was now additionally wanted for reckless driving, obstructing and resisting an officer and additional traffic charges. The following day, on Monday, November 18, 2024, just before 1:40 a.m., a Reno Police officer was on proactive Patrol in the area of 1010 West 4 Street, in a marked Reno Police vehicle. The officer saw the same vehicle that fled from the officers the two previous days, with Kristopher in the driver's seat. An officer attempted to take Kristopher into custody and entered his vehicle, in an attempt to keep him from fleeing and further endangering the public.
While inside the vehicle, a physical fight occurred between Kristopher and the officer. During the fight, Kristopher ignored the officer's commands and drove off with the officer trapped inside the vehicle. Kristopher crashed the vehicle with the officer inside. The officer continued to attempt to detain him, however Kristopher continued to resist while trying to get the vehicle started again. Kristopher was able to start the vehicle and drove at a high rate of speed, with the officer still trapped inside. Kristopher then drove on the wrong side of the road, putting others in danger. In response, the officer drew his firearm, in an attempt to force Kristopher to stop the vehicle. Instead of stopping the vehicle, Kristopher then grabbed onto the officer's firearm. The officer managed to maintain control of his weapon and was ultimately forced to discharge it. Officers provided immediate life-saving measures, but Kristopher was ultimately pronounced deceased on scene.

Shelby, Ohio — On December 7th, 2024, at approximately 11:18 p.m., Sergeant Noah Kocher and Officer ...Dominic Ewing with the Shelby Police Department went to Arby’s Restaurant, 234 Mansfield Ave, to attempt to serve a warrant on 31-year-old Tyler Jacobs out of Shelby Municipal Court. While making initial contact with Jacobs and advising him of the warrant, Jacobs stabbed Sgt Kocher in the neck with a knife. Sgt Kocher was able to create physical distance from Jacobs, who then ran toward Sgt Kocher with knife still in hand. Sgt Kocher was able to draw his duty weapon and fire at and strike Jacobs. Officer Ewing, who had been covering the back door of the restaurant made immediate entry and provided aid to Sergeant Kocher and provided critical aid to Jacobs. Sergeant Kocher and Jacobs were both transported to the hospital by Shelby Fire. Sgt Kocher is in stable condition; Jacobs succumbed to his wounds.

Deputies Pursue and Shoot Machete Wielding Suspect in Shopping Center

Thousand Oaks, California — On October 24, 2024, at approximately 6:22 a.m., deputies from the Thousand ...Oaks Police Station responded to the Ventu Park Shopping Center, located in the 500 block of Ventu Park Road, in reference to a call of a disturbance. Prior to arriving at the scene, the call was updated to a suspect threatening others with a machete. When deputies arrived at the scene, they attempted to detain the suspect, who was holding a machete in his hand, but he was non-compliant.
A deputy deployed a Taser, but it was ineffective, and the suspect fled on foot. Deputies pursued the suspect, who then entered a business within the shopping center. The suspect was holding the machete and approached employees in a threatening manner, prompting an officer involved shooting. Deputies rendered aid on the suspect, and he was ultimately transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment. No deputies were injured during the incident.
The suspect has been identified as 50-year-old Joseph Emans. On November 6, 2024, after Emans was medically cleared and was being discharged from the local hospital, detectives contacted Emans at the hospital and arrested him for the aforementioned arrest warrant. Emans was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura. Emans’ bail was set at $500,000.00.

Gwinnett County Officer Uses PIT Maneuver to End Chase with Wanted Suspect

Gwinnett County, Georgia — On November 27, at approximately 7 p.m. Gwinnett Police Department was contacted ...by the Seneca Police Department in reference to Emmanuel Williams (20, Seneca, SC.) who was wanted for three counts of attempted murder out of their jurisdiction. Williams had shot three people, one of them a 1-year-old child. It was believed Williams was travelling to Gwinnett County. The use of intel and Flock cameras, the black sport utility vehicle Williams was believed to have been driving was located at Sugarloaf Parkway and North Brown Road.
As the vehicle was exiting a nearby business, an officer got behind William’s vehicle and activated his blue lights to conduct a traffic stop. Williams suddenly crossed all lanes of traffic and started driving recklessly in an attempt to flee from officers. A short vehicle pursuit ensued reaching speeds of 80 mph. Williams approached the intersection Sugarloaf Parkway and Duluth Highway, where officers were waiting. As Williams was turning right onto Duluth Highway, an officer attempted a PIT maneuver to stop the pursuit.
Due to the of the angle of the vehicles, the officer’s patrol car struck William’s vehicle in the driver’s side rear, causing him to lose control. Williams was quickly placed under arrest. Williams was transported to a local hospital to be checked for injuries. He was then taken to the Gwinnett County Jail. Williams was charged with Driving without a Seatbelt, Felony Fleeing to Elude a Police Officer, Unsafe Lane Change, Willful Obstruction of an Officer, Reckless Driving, Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device, Driving on a Suspended License, Driving over a Gore, Speeding, and Following Too Closely.

Escondido, California — On October 2, 2024, a 911 caller reported that a male had pointed ...a handgun at her at the Escondido Transit Center at 700 W. Grand Avenue. When officers arrived, she pointed out a male who immediately ran from officers. During the foot chase onto a nearby bike path, an officer saw the male manipulating something in his hand. The male then turned with what the officer believed to be a handgun.
The officer fired at the man, striking him several times. Officers began life-saving measures and the male, identified as 34-year-old Antonio Rosales, was taken to an area hospital where he continues to receive care for his injuries. Rosales faces charges of assault on an officer. The weapon he was carrying was a Crossman-brand BB pistol which is identical in appearance to a 38-caliber revolver, including cartridges made to resemble actual bullets that hold BBs or pellets.

Stabbing Suspect Shot After Charging Troopers with Knife

Woodbury, New York — On September 18, 2024, at about 5:35 a.m., the New York State ...Police (NYSP) was notified of a stolen 2021 Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling northbound on the New York State Thruway in Rockland County. A short time later, Troopers spotted the vehicle approaching Exit 16 in Harriman, Orange County, and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Ali Ali, of New York, NY, failed to comply and continued to travel north. The vehicle became disabled about four miles north of Exit 16, struck a tractor-trailer and caught fire. Ali was able to get out of the vehicle and fled into a wooded area off the highway in Woodbury, NY. It was determined that Ali was wanted in connection with a stabbing being investigated by the NYPD.
State Police established a command post on Smith Clove Road in the town of Woodbury and initiated a search with the assistance of numerous other law enforcement agencies. Later, State Police were notified by a homeowner in Highland Mills that he captured video of Ali on a trail cam. After reviewing the footage, Troopers entered a wooded area off Trout Brook Road near where the sighting occurred, and at about 1:47 p.m., spotted Ali, who was armed with a knife. Troopers ordered Ali numerous times to drop the knife and surrender, but he failed to comply. Troopers twice deployed a taser at Ali, who appeared to fall to the ground but immediately got up, charging at Troopers while brandishing the knife. One of the Troopers discharged his Division-issued firearm, striking Ali. Troopers immediately began life saving measures but Ali died at the scene.

Jacksonville, Florida — On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Sergeant R. Hoover had been working at the ...construction site off duty when the supervisor told her the suspect had stabbed a member of the construction crew. She began to chase after him in her car and called for other officers to help her. Sergeant T. Robinson joined the pursuit to help. The suspect led the officers on a chase, before he pulled over and exited the vehicle. The officers gave the suspect loud, verbal commands to drop his weapon, but the suspect did not comply.
Sergeant Robinson deployed his taser, but it was not effective on the suspect. Armed with his knife, the suspect began running toward Sergeant Hoover. Both Sergeant Hoover and Sergeant Robinson shot the suspect. The suspect fell to the ground, and officers provided medical care until the paramedics arrived. The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Benjamin Kubi. Kubi is charged with Attempted Murder, Attempted Murder on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer. The construction worker who was stabbed in the chest/stomach area was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK.

New York, N.Y. — On August 25, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., NYPD Officers responded to ...the intersection of 103rd Street and Third Avenue after someone called 911 about a man with a gun. Officers encountered 62-year-old Mark Kelly who was holding a gun outside of 1875 Third Avenue in East Harlem, Manhattan. During the ensuing interaction, NYPD officers discharged their service weapons, striking Kelly. Kelly was transferred to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officers recovered a loaded gun at the scene.

Police Capture Burglar With Stolen Firearm Attempting to Escape Over Fence

Atlanta, Georgia — On October 9th, 2024, at approximately 9:44AM, officers responded to Biscayne Drive NW ...in reference to a residential burglary. The reporting party contacted 911 after observing an unidentified male on surveillance footage breaking into his home and stealing his firearm. The reporting party provided a description of the suspect to 911 dispatchers who then relayed that information to responding officers.
Officers arrived at the location a short time later, where they observed a male matching the description that was provided. Upon seeing the officers approach, the suspect fled through an apartment complex on foot and attempted to elude officers by climbing up and over a tall fence. The suspect was unsuccessful though and was quickly apprehended by the responding officers.
The suspect was placed into custody without further incident and officers were also able to recover the victim's firearm which the suspect attempted to conceal under a bush. The suspect was later identified as 33-year-old Kenneth Whack. Whack was charged with Burglary (1st Degree), Criminal Trespass/Damage to Property, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers. Whack was transported to the Fulton County Jail for processing.

Greensboro, North Carolina — On June 26, 2024, at approximately 8:28 a.m., officers were dispatched to ...2109 Crestridge Road in Greensboro, after a 911 call for service about a domestic situation between Titus Kopp, his grandmother and her daughter. On that morning, the grandmother had gone outside of her home and called 911, telling the dispatcher that Kopp had broken into her home and was ransacking it, and he was threatening to kill her, her daughter and himself.
When Officer Petruzzi arrived, he saw the grandmother sitting on the curb and she was visibly distraught. She told him that her grandson had been released from jail, broke into her home, and was threatening to kill himself with a knife. When she was asked if her grandson was alone, she told Officer Petruzzi that her daughter was still inside. The grandmother said she could not get back in the home. Officer Petruzzi continued to speak with her, trying to get information as they walked toward the home.
About midway up the driveway, Kopp ran out of the house with a knife. Kopp said, "I have no intentions of living" as he ran down the stairs toward Officer Petruzzi with the knife raised so the point was facing the officer. Officer Petruzzi asked Kopp to put down the knife. Kopp continued coming toward Officer Petruzzi with the knife raised. Officer Petruzzi discharged his weapon twice, striking Kopp. He immediately went to Kopp's side to render aid. Kopp was transported to the hospital but died from his injuries. A silver "Farberware" knife was located on the driveway.
