LAPD Cop Shoots Suspect Who Pulled Gun During Foot Pursuit

Los Angeles, California — On September 14, 2025, at approximately 10:46 p.m., Hollenbeck Area Gang Enforcement ...Detail uniformed officers were driving in the 2400 block of Boulder Street when they encountered the suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Francisco Garcia, in possession of an open container of alcohol. As the officers attempted to contact Garcia, he fled, and a short foot pursuit ensued. Garcia ultimately fell while running between residences and produced a handgun from his waistband area, which resulted in an Officer-Involved Shooting. Garcia was struck by gunfire and was taken into custody without further incident. The officers rendered aid until the arrival of Los Angeles Fire Department personnel. Garcia was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. A loaded 9mm Taurus pistol, with a seated high-capacity magazine, was recovered at the scene and booked as evidence. No officers or community members were injured during this incident.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma — On September 24th, 2025, just after 3:00 a.m., Oklahoma City Police received ...multiple 911 calls to the 3000 block of Southwest 64th Terrace regarding a disturbance involving a man standing outside, shouting and making threats towards children. The first officer arrived on scene and found 45-year-old Jason Redshirt yelling outside of a residence. The officer immediately began trying to de-escalate the situation and calm Redshirt down. Redshirt responded by cursing at and threatening the officer while shouting racial slurs. He then approached the officer in an aggressive manner and was pepper-sprayed. Redshirt retreated to a trailer parked in a nearby driveway. Close to the trailer, were numerous bricks as well.

Redshirt picked up a board from the trailer and presented it as a weapon towards the officer. The officer again pepper-sprayed Redshirt in an effort to get him to drop the board, along with giving him multiple commands to stop. Redshirt hurled the large board at the officer, striking him. Redshirt then continued to assault the officer by throwing multiple bricks at him. Upon being assaulted with the bricks and board, the officer discharged his firearm at Redshirt, striking and wounding him. Redshirt was transported to an area hospital for treatment. He was arrested on two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The officer sustained a non-life-threatening injury from being struck by the items that were hurled at him. The involved officer has been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Marion County Deputy Tases Wanted Man With Multiple Warrants

Ocala, Florida — On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Marion County Deputy Jentsch and Deputy LaFountain ...responded to ID Logistics Warehouse, located at 13253 SW 20th Avenue Road, in Ocala, after receiving information that a person with a felony warrant was at the location. While waiting for additional deputies, 20-year-old Ja’kyris Martin was observed attempting to leave the parking lot. When Martin saw Deputy Jentsch’s patrol vehicle, he turned around and cut through multiple parking spaces. Deputy Jentsch then initiated a traffic stop, and Martin exited the driver’s seat. Martin refused to comply with commands to stop and began walking away, so Deputy Jentsch deployed his taser and placed Martin under arrest. Martin had two felony warrants out of Columbia County. The first was for the charges of Robbery, Home Invasion, Destroying Evidence, Weapons Offense, Kidnapping, Obstructing Justice, Fraud, Grand Theft, and two counts of Aggravated Assault. His second warrant was for Impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer, Grand Theft, and Home Invasion with a Firearm. Martin was booked into the Marion County Jail, where he remains without bond.

Seattle Officers Rush to Save Man Engulfed in Flames

Seattle, Washington — On October 27, 2025, at about 3:10 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports ...of a man on fire in the 4500 block of Brooklyn Avenue Northeast. Officers arrived within five minutes and found him ingulfed in flames, running through the alleyway. Police yelled for him to stop, drop, and roll, yet he continued running. The officers ran towards him and used a fire extinguisher to put the fire out as he collapsed to the ground. The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) responded to the scene and treated the victim. SFD transported him to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) with second degree burns covering his body. Officers collected video footage from a nearby building showing that the man fell asleep next to a makeshift fire which rapidly spread to his clothing, engulfing him in flames. Due to the rescue efforts by first responders, the man survived. He is currently at HMC in critical condition.

Man Steals Ambulance With Paramedic and Patient inside Before Fiery Crash

Novi, Michigan — On Friday, October 24, 2025, police and emergency crews were called to a ...traffic crash near Novi Road and 10 Mile Road. Among those injured in that initial crash was 33-year-old Changlin Li, a driver involved in the collision. Paramedics from Medstar Ambulance were treating several people at the scene, including Li, who was being evaluated for injuries in or near the back of an ambulance. While medical personnel were tending to patients, Li suddenly jumped into the driver’s seat of the ambulance and sped away from the crash site, leaving responders stunned. Inside the ambulance were a paramedic and a patient who had been receiving care at the time. As Li fled, officers pursued the stolen vehicle while Medstar tracked it remotely and relayed its location to law enforcement. During the chase, Li reportedly drove over 70 mph, passed through construction zones with workers, and eventually blew a tire before running a red light at 8 Mile and Beck roads in Northville Township.

The ambulance then slammed into a GMC Yukon, causing a violent collision that set the ambulance on fire. Despite the flames, all three people inside the ambulance and the 72-year-old Yukon driver survived, though they sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Li attempted to run from the wreckage and even tried to take an officer’s gun during his arrest. He was eventually captured and later tried again to grab an officer’s weapon while at the hospital. Police also discovered he was carrying a concealed knife. Li now faces multiple felony charges, including carjacking, fleeing and eluding, assaulting and obstructing police, attempting to disarm officers, and carrying a concealed weapon. His bond was set at $5 million, and his next court appearance is scheduled for November 5.

Stockton Officers Shoot Suspect After He Drops And Picks Up Gun

Stockton, California — On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at approximately 6:08 PM, Stockton Police officers conducted ...a proactive vehicle checkout in the area of Doray Court and Pixie Drive. Officers discovered a 19-year-old male sitting in a vehicle that was double-parked at the end of Doray Court. When they approached him, he stood up and attempted to leave the vehicle, ignoring the officers' direct orders. A struggle ensued as he resisted their attempts to detain him. Despite multiple commands, he remained non-compliant, aggressively pulling away and ultimately breaking free. During this struggle, he lost possession of an illegal extended handgun magazine that had been concealed on his person.

During the foot chase, the suspect dropped a loaded firearm while fleeing. In his attempt to retrieve the weapon, he kicked it forward and then ran after it, rearming himself despite repeatedly ignoring commands from the officers. This series of events led to an officer-involved shooting, in which the suspect sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Once additional units arrived, the officers secured the suspect and recovered a loaded handgun, along with an additional fully loaded 17-round magazine, which were found next to the suspect. Officers rendered medical aid to the suspect. American Medical Response (AMR) arrived and transported the suspect to an area hospital. The suspect was later pronounced deceased. No officers were injured during this incident.

Los Angeles, California — On September 10, 2025, at approximately 5:18 p.m., Mission Patrol Division uniformed ...officers responded to a radio call of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon suspect at the 8700 block of Orion Avenue. The comments of the call indicated the suspect, identified as 50-year-old Gustavo Ramirez, was armed with a glass bottle and a firearm. As an Airship arrived overhead, they directed officers to the area of Orion Avenue and Parthenia Street, where the suspect was observed. Upon contact, the officers attempted to gain Ramirez’s compliance by issuing verbal commands. Ramirez failed to comply, pointed a handgun at the officers and an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) occurred. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and transported the Ramirez to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. No officers or community members were injured during this incident. The handgun used by Ramirez was later determined to be a black plastic replica. The replica handgun was recovered at the scene and booked as evidence.

Santa Clara Officer Shoots Suspect Stabbing Roommate Inside Home

Santa Clara, California — On September 3, 2025, at about 6:00 a.m., Santa Clara Police received ...a 9-1-1 call reporting a stabbing inside a home on the 1800 block of Eisenhower Drive. The caller said his roommate, 30-year-old Mohammed Nizamuddin, was stabbing another roommate with a large knife. Officers were en route as the dispatcher gathered more information. In the background, the victim can be heard pleading for help as Nizamuddin continued the attack. The caller said the victim managed to take possession of the knife, which broke during the attack. Then, the caller reported Nizamuddin had a second knife. Prior to the officer's arrival, Nizamuddin had already stabbed the victim multiple times.

The officer could hear a commotion inside and forced open the front door. The officer encountered Nizamuddin in the hallway as he straddled the victim. There were at least three other residents present in the house, Nizamuddin and the victim were struggling over the knife. When the officer saw the Nizamuddin's hand holding the knife come down toward the victim, the officer shot four times, striking him with all four of the shots. Officers took the victim outside and provided medical aid until paramedics arrived. Inside the home, officers approached Nizamuddin, placed him in handcuffs, and rendered medical aid. Nizamuddin was transported to the hospital by paramedics where he later died. Two knives were recovered at the scene. One of the knives broke during the attack. Fort Worth, Texas — On October 23, 2025, two Fort Worth Police Officers responded to a ...vehicular collision on I-30 between Eastchase Parkway and Cooks Lane that resulted in the female driver and an infant child being ejected from the vehicle. The infant was pinned beneath the overturned vehicle and was unresponsive. Sgt. R. Nichols (Badge #3590) and Officer E. Bounds (Badge #3521) with help from witnesses to the accident, were able to free the trapped infant. Sgt. Nichols immediately began to perform CPR on the unconscious infant, eventually waking the child and keeping her alive until Medstar arrived on scene. At this time, the woman and infant are in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

San Diego Officers Shoot Fleeing Suspect Armed With a Replica Gun

San Diego, California — On September 23, 2025, at about 6:30 a.m., San Diego Police received ...a 9-1-1 call reporting a man trespassing on the grounds of Fay Elementary School while children were present. The caller provided a description of the man, who was later identified as 41-year-old Huy Ly. The caller then informed the dispatcher that Ly was armed with a firearm and a knife. Officers arrived after the 9-1-1 call and located Ly. Officers are heard saying "Gun, gun!" after observing what appeared to be a firearm in Ly's waistband. They attempted to communicate with Ly in English and Vietnamese, but he did not comply with commands. For several minutes, officers attempted to negotiate with Ly, but he did not comply with their commands. Officer #2 deployed less-lethal beanbag rounds, and a k-9 was utilized, but both tactics were ineffective in gaining his compliance.

When officer #2 deployed two more beanbag rounds, Ly ran northbound through an alley toward orange avenue. During the foot pursuit, Ly retrieved an object from his waistband. Ly reached the end of the alley and ran onto orange avenue while still holding the apparent firearm. Officer Ruiz gave Ly an additional command to drop the gun. As Ly ran on orange avenue, he turned toward the pursuing officers while still holding the Gun. Officers Ruiz and Basson discharged their service weapons. Officer Basson discharged his rifle, then approached and kicked the apparent firearm away from Ly. Officers provided medical aid, including the use of CPR, until the arrival of San Diego fire rescue personnel. Ly was pronounced deceased at the scene. Upon close examination by investigators, the firearm was determined to be a replica. Investigators also determined he possessed a knife that was later located in the alley where he was initially contacted.

Good Samaritans Save Kentucky Trooper Shot During a Traffic Stop

Frankfort, Kentucky — On July 13, 2025, a Kentucky State Police trooper pulled over a vehicle ...on Terminal Drive near Blue Grass Airport. During the traffic stop, one of the occupants, later identified as 47-year-old Guy House of Lexington, suddenly pulled out a gun and shot the trooper in the leg. The injured trooper was later identified as Trooper Jude Remilien, a 3-year veteran of the agency. After the shooting, House fled the scene, leaving behind the driver of the SUV. After seeing the injured trooper, three good Samaritans ran to his side, used belts as make shift tourniquets, gave Remilien water and kept pressure on his wound. The driver ran to help Remilien as well. He was not charged for any involvement in the shooting. Minutes later, Blue Grass Airport Police Department Officer Adam Arnold arrived and applied a tourniquet. On the video, paramedics are seen arriving soon after.

While escaping, House carjacked another vehicle from a civilian and continued driving through Fayette County. Police quickly began searching for the stolen vehicle and eventually located it near the Richmond Road Baptist Church on Old Richmond Road. Around 12:30 p.m., Lexington Police officers found House in the church’s parking lot. When they arrived, they discovered multiple victims who had already been shot by House. Officers confronted him, and when he refused to comply, three officers—Sergeant Ross Collins, Officer Kyle Blankenship, and Officer Simon Rankin—opened fire, killing him at the scene. Two of the church shooting victims, Christina Combs (34) and Beverly Gumm (72), died from their injuries, while two others were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Trooper Remilien survived and remains in stable condition.

Jimmy and Jessica Alexander, their daughter Taylor Hall and Airport Officer Adam Arnold were honored at the State Police Training Academy with the Meritorious Achievement Award, the highest honor KSP can give a civilian. This award had not been handed out in years. Trooper Remilien continues to recover from the incident but was walking on his own power on Thursday Oct. 23, 2025.

Police Shoot Suspect Who Rammed Patrol Vehicle And Charged With Knife

Roseville, Michigan — On October 13, 2025, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), was requested to ...investigate an Officer Involved Shooting that occurred at the north end of the parking lot the Roseville Police Department. Upon arrival, MCSO detectives were briefed on the incident. According to initial findings, a 36-year-old male suspect from Roseville used his vehicle to strike a marked Roseville Police SUV driven by Officer C. Officer B then approached the suspect’s vehicle, at which time the suspect produced a knife. Officer A also attempted to approach the suspect, who refused to comply with repeated verbal commands to drop the weapon. The suspect exited his vehicle, still armed with a knife and continued to ignore verbal commands. He then raised the knife and charged at Officer A, forcing officers to discharge their weapons. Following the incident, officers immediately called for medical assistance and rendered aid on the scene. The suspect was transported to a local hospital. He remains in critical condition. No officers were seriously injured during the incident. After a thorough investigation, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office found no evidence to support criminal charges against the Roseville Police Officers involved.

The following charges were authorized against the suspect:
Count 1 – Weapons – dangerous weapon – carrying with unlawful intent – a 5-year-felony
Count 2 – Assault with a dangerous weapon – a 4-year-felony
Count 3 – Assault with a dangerous weapon – a 4-year-felony
Count 4 – Malicious destruction of fire or police property – a 4-year-felony.
