* (Disclaimer: The content in this video is intended for educational and informational purposes only)
West Chester, Ohio — On June 4, 2026, at approximately 9:49 p.m., West Chester Police officers ...
responded to a third-party 911 call, reporting a woman screaming for help and loud banging inside an apartment. A neighbor indicated a female may have been thrown down stairs during a physical fight. Officers made contact through the door with 39-year-old Lorenzo Miller, who claimed it was only an argument and refused to open up. Dispatch advised of prior police runs at the address involving Miller and a 31-year old female resident, noting Miller was on an ankle monitor and considered extremely dangerous with a history involving weapons, drugs, and gangs. After unsuccessful attempts to reach the female resident, officers made phone and text contact, she indicated she needed help and later texted “Help,” prompting officers to determine exigent circumstances existed. Officers used a ram to force entry around 10:18 p.m., announced themselves, and moved upstairs toward the sound of a female screaming. At a partially closed bathroom door on the upper level, Miller was heard stating he had a knife to the female’s neck and ordering officers not to rush in. An officer entered the bathroom, discharged a firearm once, and struck Miller. Officers immediately rendered aid, including CPR, while paramedics responded. Miller was pronounced deceased on scene at 10:53 p.m. The female resident was removed from the apartment, reported injuries including to her arm, ribs, neck, and other areas, and later told investigators Miller had assaulted her, held a knife to her throat, and instructed her on what to say to police. The woman was taken to West Chester Hospital and released. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation conducted an independent review of the officer-involved critical incident at the request of West Chester Police. On June 16, 2026, Butler County Prosecutor Mike Gmoser announced that the grand jury determined the officers’ actions in the June 4, 2026, West Chester incident involving Lorenzo Miller were legally justified. The grand jury declined to return any indictments, clearing the involved officers of criminal wrongdoing. No charges were filed against them.

Palo Alto Police Department responded to a report of a trespasser at the Stanford Shopping Center. Security staff requested the officer's assistance with serving a notice to the trespasser to ban him from their private property. Security and the officer went to the bench where the suspect was sleeping. After multiple attempts to wake the suspect, he awoke when the officer identified himself as a Palo Alto police officer. The suspect became agitated and stood up and walked towards the officer while yelling at him. The suspect ignored the officer's commands to stop and continued to walk towards the officer while yelling at him. After multiple commands to stop and back away were made, the officer deployed his conducted energy weapon (a Taser) and applied it to the suspect. The suspect fell to the ground and was taken into custody without further incident at about 5:45 p.m.

Henrietta, N.Y. — On August 9, 2026, just before 4 p.m., Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded ...
to a 911 call at the Super 8 hotel on Lehigh Station Road after Gregory Allen Kase’s wife reported that her husband had texted her. Deputies arrived within minutes. According to the family’s notice of claim and sheriff’s office accounts, 62-year-old Gregory Allen Kase, was found naked in the bathroom of the hotel room holding a box cutter or knife. Deputies ordered him multiple times from the hallway and after forcing entry to drop the weapon. He did not comply. Roughly 13 minutes after the call went out, two deputies fired their weapons, striking Kase in the chest and stomach. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The New York State Attorney General’s Office is leading the investigation, with the Sheriff’s Office also conducting internal reviews. The involved deputies were placed on administrative leave. The family has filed a claim alleging Kase was profoundly deaf (totally in one ear and partially in the other, relying on lip-reading), that this information was conveyed in the 911 call, and that the rapid use of force was unjustified given the circumstances.

Columbus, Ohio — On August 7, 2026, around 6:21 p.m., a silver sedan exiting Interstate 70 ...
onto South Hamilton Road ran a red light, crossed the median and collided with another vehicle. The driver, later identified as 32-year-old Brandon Burtyk, reportedly got out of the sedan and fired toward the other vehicle before running from the scene. Multiple 911 calls helped officers track his movements, with callers describing a man carrying two handguns as he walked through the neighborhood. About 20 minutes later, officers located Burtyk outside a residence on Errington Road, where body-camera footage showed him holding both firearms and repeatedly yelling at officers. What followed was a tense standoff lasting more than 20 minutes as officers repeatedly urged Burtyk to put the weapons down and tried to keep him from harming himself or anyone else. The situation suddenly turned chaotic shortly after 7 p.m. when Burtyk pointed the guns toward officers. Columbus Police said Burtyk also fired, while several officers discharged their weapons. One officer was grazed by gunfire and was taken to a hospital for treatment, but Burtyk was not struck. As officers continued ordering him to drop the weapons, Burtyk eventually threw both guns down and was taken into custody. He was transported to a hospital for evaluation related to the earlier crash and was later charged with felonious assault. Authorities said one of the firearms had been reported stolen, while Burtyk, who had recently been released from prison, remained held on a $3 million bond as the police shooting investigation continues.

Trumann, Arkansas — On August 5, 2026, at approximately 6:56 p.m., Arkansas State Police Trooper Logan ...
Hall attempted to stop a Hyundai Sonata traveling north near the 24 mile marker. Hall initially clocked the vehicle at about 90 mph in a 75 mph zone, but the driver failed to pull over and instead accelerated as the pursuit continued. The vehicle eventually reached speeds of approximately 130 mph while passing other motorists and driving recklessly toward the Trumann area. With the pursuit moving toward a more populated stretch of highway, Hall attempted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention near the 28 mile marker to bring the Sonata to a stop. The maneuver caused the Hyundai to lose control and move across the roadway, where it struck a black SUV carrying a 73-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman. The impact sent the SUV off the highway, where it overturned several times before coming to rest on its passenger side.

The two occupants were trapped inside and suffered serious injuries, requiring firefighters and other first responders to use extrication equipment before they could be removed. Both were ultimately flown to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis for treatment. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 32-year-old Laloyd L. Hamilton III, managed to get out of his vehicle after the crash but initially refused to follow repeated commands to get on the ground. He eventually lay face down and was taken into custody. As emergency crews treated the injured motorists, authorities also evaluated Hamilton, who complained of pain and later received medical attention. Investigators searching his vehicle reported finding 44 grams of marijuana along with oxycodone and OxyContin pills in prescription bottles that allegedly had identifying information removed. Hamilton was eventually medically cleared and taken to the Poinsett County Detention Center. He faces charges including felony fleeing, second-degree battery, second-degree criminal mischief, possession with purpose to deliver a Schedule I or II controlled substance, and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance as well as charges of driving while intoxicated and hazardous driving.

Oakland, California — On July 13, 2026, just after 2:00 p.m., the California Highway Patrol requested ...
assistance from the Oakland Police Department regarding an armed man being aggressive in the area of 40th Avenue and International Boulevard. CHP officers encountered the armed man at an encampment along State Highway 185. He was ordered to drop his weapons, but he did not comply. He threatened the officers and walked away. CHP officers followed him before calling Oakland Police for assistance. Oakland Police Officers responded and located the man, believed to be 44-year-old Jose Angel Castillo. Castillo was wielding two homemade weapons, each a long metal pole with a knife attached. OPD officers arrived and immediately gave Castillo commands to drop the homemade weapons. Castillo did not comply. He again threatened officers while continuing to walk away as additional officers arrived on scene. While wielding the homemade weapons, Castillo walked to the sidewalk where a man and two children were crouching down behind a tree. As officers closed on his position, Castillo moved toward the man and two children before continuing north on 41st Avenue. An OPD officer who was equipped with a taser stopped to ensure the man and two children were safely past the officer. Officers gave Castillo multiple commands to 'Drop The Knives,' followed by warnings that force would be used if he did not comply. Officers then continued following Castillo into a shopping center parking lot. OPD and CHP officers deployed their tasers, but they were not effective. Castillo then began swinging the long metal poles with knives attached as OPD officers discharged their service weapons. Officers immediately provided medical aid to Castillo until paramedics arrived. Despite their efforts, Castillo died at the scene. No other members of the community or officers were injured during this incident.

North Olmsted, Ohio — On January 21, 2026, at approximately 3:03 p.m., Elyria Police received a ...
report that a Brinks employee had been robbed at gunpoint. According to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the suspect was identified as 37-year-old John Johnson, who was seen fleeing in a black Hyundai. Police from multiple agencies began pursuing the vehicle, with investigators later determining that Johnson was wanted for aggravated robbery with a firearm and kidnapping. The pursuit continued into North Olmsted, where officers successfully deployed tire spikes before Johnson crashed into another vehicle at Brookpark Road and Columbia Road. Johnson then abandoned the car while holding a pistol and ran toward the nearby Clareshire Drive apartment complex. Investigators say Johnson then ran toward an occupied apartment and forced resident Alia Aboalodos inside while armed with a handgun. Aboalodos was home with her four children, and her account to BCI investigators said Johnson pointed the gun at her and directed her farther into the residence. Ring camera footage corroborated that Johnson pushed her inside, while police video showed an Elyria officer arrive at the residence, move children away from the doorway and force the door open. The officer later told investigators that he saw the barrel of Johnson’s handgun pointed in his direction as he entered. BCI’s video analysis found that the first gunshot occurred less than a second after the door was kicked open, with the fifteenth gunshot occurring about 3.85 seconds after the breach. After the gunfire, another Elyria officer entered the apartment, recovered a pistol from beneath Johnson’s right hip area and helped render the weapon safe while officers provided medical assistance. BCI’s firearms examination determined that the officer’s 9mm Glock fired the cartridge casings and projectiles recovered from the apartment and from Johnson’s body, while Johnson’s .45-caliber Glock was found to be operable but had not been fired. EMS ultimately transported Johnson to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to the department, no officers or civilians were injured during this incident.

Dallas, Texas — On Thursday, August 6, 2026, at approximately 9:10 a.m., Dallas Police Officers responded ...
to a robbery in progress at a business in the 3500 block of Sunnyvale Street. Investigators determined the victim parked her white Porsche Cayenne outside the business while her 9-year-old daughter remained inside the vehicle. A man, later identified as 39-year-old Renard McFadden, arrived in a stolen Ford F-150, approached the Porsche, threatened the child while indicating he was armed, and ordered her out of the vehicle. The child ran inside the business to alert her mother. When the victim confronted McFadden, he again indicated he was armed before stealing the Porsche and fleeing the scene. The Ford F-150 was left behind and was later confirmed stolen. The victim provided officers with real-time location information for the stolen Porsche through the vehicle’s tracking application. Officers from multiple patrol divisions, covert units, and Air One coordinated to locate the vehicle and safely apprehend the suspect. At approximately 10:10 a.m., officers located the stolen Porsche in the 5800 block of Williamstown Road. Uniformed officers initiated a felony traffic stop while a covert officer positioned his unmarked vehicle in front of the Porshe to prevent the suspect from leaving the area. The covert officer exited his vehicle with his department-issued handgun drawn and moved toward a nearby residential yard. Officer Celso Rocha fired four rounds toward the covert officer and McFadden. Officer Rocha recognized the individual was another police officer, ceased firing, and can be heard yelling, “Blue, Blue.” McFadden then exited the stolen Porsche and surrendered without further incident. No officers, the suspect, or members of the public were injured during the incident. Investigators also recovered a loaded handgun inside the stolen Porsche. Additional evidence recovered from the vehicle is being examined as part of several ongoing violent crime investigations. McFadden is currently charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Robbery, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Detectives are also pursuing additional charges related to other violent offenses under investigation.

Brooklyn, Ohio — On February 24, 2026, Parma police officers were initially called to the Knollwood ...
Apartments in Parma for a welfare check on 29-year-old Ricardo Yuuki Davis. A friend had contacted police after receiving a message from Davis. When officers arrived, they found suspected notes on the outside of his apartment and, after gaining entry, discovered additional notes and documents inside. Officers also found a receipt indicating Davis had purchased a Taurus handgun. Davis was not at the apartment, so police began searching for him and his red Toyota Corolla. An emergency phone-location ping eventually placed Davis in the area of Brookpark Road, where an officer spotted his vehicle leaving a Walmart parking lot.

Officers followed Davis and attempted to stop the Corolla as part of the welfare check. According to the BCI investigation, Davis did not immediately pull over, but eventually stopped on Brookpark Road. Almost immediately, officers saw him reaching toward the backseat and radioed that they believed he had a gun. Davis then exited the vehicle holding a handgun in his right hand and began walking toward the officers. Police repeatedly ordered him to drop the weapon. Body-camera and dash-camera footage reviewed by investigators placed the first police shot at approximately 1:41:32 p.m., followed by additional shots as Davis continued moving toward the officers with the firearm still in his hand. About a second later, Davis fell to the roadway and the handgun dropped from his hand.

After the shooting, officers secured the handgun, requested emergency medical assistance and began treating Davis at the scene. Parma Fire Department personnel arrived and transported him to MetroHealth, but he later died from his injuries. The BCI investigation found that the Taurus handgun Davis was holding was operable, although investigators determined it had not been fired during the confrontation. The investigation also identified fired cartridge casings and bullets as having come from the service weapons of the two officers who fired. BCI emphasized that its investigation was intended to establish the facts and circumstances of the shooting and did not itself issue an opinion on whether the officers' actions were legally justified.

Sacramento, California — On February 15, 2026, the day before the officer involved shooting, a victim ...
called the Sacramento Sheriff's Office to report a male subject had shot at him and his vehicle. The victim was not hurt, but his vehicle had been struck by gunfire. The suspect had fled the scene, but deputies were able to confirm the license plate of the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle was associated with 45-year-old Tywain Smith. Smith matched the physical description of the suspect that the victim had provided. Less than 24 hours later, on the evening of February 16th, 2026, deputies observed a vehicle involved with the shooting. The vehicle was headed southbound on Elk Grove Florin Road when the deputies initiated a vehicle stop. The vehicle pulled over onto the northern side of Tiogawoods Drive just west of Elk Grove Florin Road. Upon contacting the driver of the vehicle, who was later confirmed to be Smith, a deputy on the passenger side of the vehicle was able to see that Smith had a firearm on his right side of his waistband. Deputies removed Smith from the vehicle and attempted to detain him in handcuffs. Smith actively resisted, broke free, and ran from deputies. As he ran, Smith pulled his handgun out with his right hand, which resulted in the officer-involved shooting. Smith was struck by gunfire several times and fell to the ground in the street, dropping the firearm from his hand. Additional deputies arrived on scene and administered first aid until the fire department arrived. Smith was transported to a local area hospital by the Sacramento Metro Fire Department where he ultimately survived his injuries. He was later transported and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. The handgun Smith was holding at the time of the shooting was recovered at the scene. Deputies discovered the firearm was loaded and functional, but Smith did not fire his weapon at deputies. The first deputy fired two rounds from his handgun and the second deputy fired three rounds from his handgun.

Baltimore, Maryland — On Sunday, July 12, 2026, at approximately 6:48 p.m., officers from the Montgomery ...
County Department of Police and the Gaithersburg Police Department responded to the 9600 block of Lost Knife Road for a report of a "man loading a gun at the bus stop." Consistent with the caller's description, officers encountered an adult male armed who was later identified as 46-year-old Elliott Powers. Powers, who had no fixed address, was armed with what appeared to be a handgun. Shortly thereafter, Powers racked the slide of the handgun. Officers attempted to deescalate the situation to resolve it peacefully; however, Powers did not respond to those de-escalation efforts. Officers requested multiple resources to help deescalate the situation and resolve the incident safely. They also cleared the nearby parking lot of pedestrians and temporarily closed surrounding roadways to ensure public safety throughout the incident. Approximately 12 minutes after the initial contact, Powers raised the handgun he was holding in the direction of an officer. In response, officers from both agencies fired their service weapons at Powers. After the shooting, officers issued commands to hold fire once they determined there was no longer an active threat. They then moved quickly to begin providing emergency medical care until Montgomery County Fire and Rescue arrived. Powers was pronounced dead at the scene. No pedestrians or bystanders were injured and a handgun was recovered and secured at the scene.
