Suspect In Stolen Vehicle Slams Into Police Cruiser During Pursuit

Canton, Ohio — On July 7, 2026, at approximately 3:21 p.m., Ohio State Troopers were told ...to be on the lookout for a gray Kia Telluride, driven by 39-year-old Julius Edwards, after the vehicle fled from Canton police officers and United States Marshals. Edwards was wanted in connection to an attempted murder in Canton on Tuesday. After the vehicle was identified through Flock cameras, troopers located Edwards’ vehicle around 7:27 p.m. on Darrow Road in Hudson. Troopers activated their emergency overhead lights, but the Kia failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. Shortly thereafter, while fleeing, Edwards failed to stop at a red light at Terex Road, causing a serious-injury crash with multiple victims. Following the crash, Edwards exited his vehicle and fled the area on foot. At that time, Edwards fired at the pursuing trooper, and an officer-involved shooting occurred, with the trooper returning fire. Edwards then fled into nearby woods. Law enforcement set up a perimeter in the immediate vicinity in an attempt to locate Edwards. Just before 8:25 p.m., troopers observed Edwards driving a stolen silver Chrysler Town & Country that he had carjacked. Troopers activated their emergency overhead lights, but the Chrysler failed to stop and another pursuit ensued. Following a pursuit involving multiple agencies that lasted approximately 10 minutes, Edwards struck a Summit Metro Parks cruiser, which resulted in a rollover crash near Saybrooke Boulevard and Bunker Lane. Edwards exited the vehicle, attempted to flee, but was taken into custody by Stow Police Department officers and Patrol troopers without further incident. The Summit Metro Parks officer sustained minor injuries from the crash, no other law enforcement officers reported injuries. According to Canton Municipal Court online records, Julius Edwards is facing charges for attempted murder, felonious assault and domestic violence in connection with a stabbing that took place in Canton on Tuesday.

Queen Creek, Arizona — On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, just before 2 p.m., Queen Creek Police ...Officers were notified of a man, later identified as Bradley. Family members reported receiving text messages from him and advised that he had access to multiple firearms and vehicles. Officers initially responded to Bradley’s residence to attempt contact and de-escalation. He was not located at his home; officers made contact with him via phone and confirmed he had a gun. He refused to share his location. Officers continued efforts to locate him while maintaining phone and text communication. Just after 3 p.m., officers located Bradley’s vehicle parked in the northwest portion of a church parking lot near Chandler Heights and 204th Street. Officers observed him while he remained in his vehicle. When Bradley exited his vehicle and attempted to enter the church building, officers determined it was necessary to make contact with him as he stated he had a gun and there were bystanders on the east side of the church. During the interaction, Bradley again confirmed he was carrying a gun. Officers issued multiple verbal commands instructing him not to move and not to reach for the weapon. He did not comply and made motions towards the gun in his waistband. A single-round, less-lethal option was deployed and was ineffective. He did not comply and continued moving in the direction of bystanders. This is when the officer involved shooting occurred. After discharging their weapons, officers observed him continue to move and appeared to reach for his gun again, failing to comply with officers’ commands. Officers discharged their weapons again. Due to the fact he was armed, a Taser was deployed to safely take him into custody, remove the gun from his waistband, and then provide life-saving efforts. Bradley was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:54 p.m. No officers or bystanders were injured during the incident.

Los Angeles, California — On May 23, 2026, at around 8:50 p.m., a 77th patrol unit ...observed a Tesla driving recklessly as it traveled northbound on Figueroa at 61st Street. The officer attempted to stop the Tesla, but the driver failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated. Due to the speed of the Tesla, officers lost sight of the vehicle and terminated the one-minute pursuit. As officers were monitoring the area, it appeared the Tesla crashed into a bicyclist. Officers stopped to render aid, but the cyclist was uncooperative and left the area. Another 77th patrol unit that was responding eastbound on Slauson Avenue to the area of pursuit, observed the Tesla speeding westbound on Slauson Avenue near Vermont Avenue pass them. Officers negotiated a U-turn and observed the Tesla crash into a Mercedes Benz at Slauson Avenue and Denker Avenue. The driver of the Tesla exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers were able to detain and arrest the driver without incident. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Tamajai Dampeer was arrested for Section 2800.3 “Felony Evading-Causing Death to Another Person” of the California Vehicle Code. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and rendered aid but were unable to revive the driver of the Mercedes. The Mayor’s Crisis Response Team and the LAPD’s Family Liaison Unit responded and provided support.

San Antonio, Texas — On July 1, 2026, at approximately 1:04 p.m., Sgt. Tomblin and Officer ...Peebles with the Castle Hills Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Honeysuckle Lane. During the investigation, Sgt. Tomblin identified the male driver as Richard Daniel Rodriguez and determined he was wanted on a warrant out of Iowa for Violation of Probation. The warrant also indicated Rodriguez was considered armed and dangerous and had a history of violent behavior. Sgt. Tomblin instructed Rodriguez multiple times to exit the vehicle; however, he refused to comply. After providing several lawful opportunities for Rodriguez to exit voluntarily, Sgt. Tomblin and Officer Peebles entered the vehicle in an attempt to take him into custody. During the arrest attempt, Rodriguez actively resisted by attempting to close the vehicle door on the officers while continuing to refuse their commands. The female passenger, identified as Jade Mileena Villanueva, allegedly assisted Rodriguez by placing the vehicle into drive, allowing him to flee the scene at a high rate of speed. During the brief pursuit, the vehicle sustained damage to two tires, and speeds remained below approximately 30 mph. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the 100 block of Thames Drive. Rodriguez exited the vehicle and fled on foot toward a nearby residence. Sgt. Tomblin and Officer Peebles pursued him, wrestled him to the ground, and safely took him into custody. Cpl. Arriola arrived on scene and took Villanueva into custody without further incident. Rodriguez was transported to the Bexar County Jail, where he was booked on his outstanding Iowa warrant and charged with Evading Arrest/Detention Using a Vehicle. Villanueva was charged with Interference with Public Duties and Evading Arrest/Detention Using a Vehicle for her alleged involvement in assisting Rodriguez during the incident.

Orange County, Florida — On June 3, 2026, at about 1 p.m., deputies responded to the ...8200 block of Tivoli Drive because a neighbor reported there was a woman, identified the woman as 59-year-old Rosalia Hodges, outside of a home, screaming. When deputies arrived, they knocked on the door of the residence, and Hodges came out holding a knife. Deputies retreated back toward the street and ordered her to drop the knife several times. She refused to drop the knife and shouted “I’ll kill you” as she continued to advance. Three deputies fired their service weapons, and Hodges was struck. Deputies rendered aid until paramedics arrived. Hodges was transported to the hospital, where she died.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin — On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at approximately 9:07 p.m., Milwaukee Police Officers were ...dispatched after numerous 911 callers reported an armed man at a second-floor apartment near North 64th Street and West Sheridan Avenue. Investigators say the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Deontae Ransom, had gone to confront his ex-girlfriend after accusing her of being with another man. According to court records, he allegedly pounded on her apartment door, threatened her with a firearm, and demanded to be let inside while another man accompanied him. Fearing for their safety, residents alerted police, prompting a rapid response to what officers believed was an active shooter situation. As officers searched the building, they heard loud noises they believed were gunfire and moved into the stairwell to locate the suspect. Body-camera footage shows the officers climbing the stairs before suddenly encountering Ransom, who allegedly had a modified handgun concealed inside his clothing with one hand remaining in his pocket. Believing he posed an immediate threat, two officers opened fire, striking him in the arm. Ransom retreated to the upper level of the stairwell, where surveillance video shows him removing his jacket and placing his weapon on the floor before officers cautiously advanced. After roughly a minute and a half, he came back downstairs with his hands raised and surrendered without further violence.

Officers took him into custody and transported him to a hospital for treatment. The investigation also led to the arrest of the second suspect, 19-year-old Damarion Williams-Beal, who prosecutors say accompanied Ransom to the apartment building and helped conceal the firearm before it was used during the confrontation. Court documents allege the incident followed several days of escalating threats toward Ransom's ex-girlfriend, including an earlier report in which he was accused of pointing a firearm at her and threatening to shoot her. Ransom now faces four felonies in this case, including stalking, burglary while armed with a dangerous weapon, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, all with modifiers for habitual criminality or domestic abuse. He also faces two misdemeanors for intentionally pointing a firearm at a person and disorderly conduct, both with the same modifiers. Williams-Beal faces 2 felony charges, including burglary while armed with dangerous weapon as party to a crime, and possessing a firearm as an adjudicated delinquent of a felony. Deontae Ransom's cash bond was set at $85,000, while Damarion Williams-Beal's cash bond was set at $5,000. If convicted on all charges, prosecutors say Ransom faces up to 65 years in prison, while Williams-Beal could face up to 25 years in prison. Both officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative duty, which is standard procedure while the officer-involved shooting remains under investigation.

Officer Shoots Suspect After Struggle Over Gun

Oak Park, Illinois — On Sunday, May 31, at approximately 9:10 p.m., an Oak Park Police ...Officer conducted a traffic stop of a black SUV for a moving violation at a gas station in the vicinity of Harrison St. and Austin Blvd. The driver, 38-year-old Christian Wallace, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. During the stop, Wallace was instructed by the officer to exit the vehicle. The officer performed a protective pat down and, in doing so, discovered a concealed Gun. A prolonged physical struggle over control of the Gun ensued between the officer and Wallace. During the encounter, Wallace regained possession of the Gun, and the officer discharged his service weapon, striking Wallace four times. Additional responding officers administered aid on the scene for more than three minutes before Wallace was transported to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:59 p.m. The officer was also transported to Loyola that evening. He was released from the hospital on June 1 and remains on medical leave for an injury sustained during the incident.

LAPD Officers Shoot Armed Man Wielding Knives and Grilling Fork

Los Angeles, California — On May 16, 2026, at around 1:45 a.m., Los Angeles Police Officers ...from the Hollenbeck Patrol Division responded to a radio call of an Assault with a Weapon in progress at a residence in the 3000 block Glenn Avenue. Upon arrival, the officers were met by a family member of the suspect outside of the suspect’s residence. While officers were conducting their investigation, the suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Robert Velasquez, emerged from the residence with two knives and a grilling fork. The officers gave verbal commands to Velasquez to drop the weapons, but he did not comply. Velasquez threw one of the knives in the officers’ direction and while still armed with one knife and the grilling fork, an Officer-Involved Shooting occurred. Velasquez fell to the ground momentarily and began to get back up to his feet, still holding the knife and grilling fork resulting in a second Officer-Involved Shooting. Velasquez was struck by gunfire, collapsed onto the ground, but refused to submit to arrest. Velasquez sat up and began moving toward the front door of the residence resulting in the use of an intermediate force option. The intermediate force option was successful, and Velasquez was taken into custody. The officers rendered medical aid until the arrival of Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel arrived at scene and transported Velasquez to a local hospital for medical treatment. Two knives and a grilling fork were recovered at the scene and booked as evidence. No community members or officers were injured during this incident.

Masked Teen Opens Fire During Foot Pursuit With Connecticut Police

New Britain, Connecticut — On June 24, 2026, at approximately 2:54 p.m., the New Britain Police ...Department received 911 calls regarding shots fired at 15 Union Street. When police officers arrived at that address, they observed numerous spent shell casings in the street and bullet holes on the exterior of the residence. Approximately nine minutes later, the New Britain Police Department received an additional 911 call regarding two males who were wearing masks and hoodies and acting suspicious near the TD Bank branch located at 178 Main Street. Several officers responded to that area. They observed two males matching the description given by the caller and attempted to stop and speak to them. The two males ran into the parking lot of a nearby Red Roof Inn and officers pursued them; Officer Joseph Milhomens on bicycle, and Officer Jillian Korwek, Detective Nedderman, and Sargeant Michael Slavin in an unmarked police vehicle. Officer Nedderman, a plain clothes detective, was seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle and attempted to don his ballistic vest to which his body worn camera (BWC) was attached. Before he was able to do so, the vehicle came to a stop and all three of the officers exited the vehicle and began to chase the two males on foot. The chase proceeded into a parking lot adjacent to 1 Herald Square.

In the parking lot, one of the males fired a gunshot at Detective Nedderman who was the closest pursuer. Officer Nedderman returned fire from his duty firearm, striking that male several times. A handgun and spent shell casing were recovered next to where the male fell to the pavement. He was taken into custody and received medical aid from the officers. Soon thereafter, he was transported to a local hospital and taken into surgery. He is expected to survive his wounds. The male was subsequently identified as a 17-year-old New Britain residence. Because he is a juvenile, he cannot be publicly identified at this time. He has been charged by the New Britain State’s Attorney with various offenses, including criminal attempt at assault in the first degree, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit. The second male was tackled in the parking lot and taken into custody by Officer Milhomens who had been riding a bicycle. A handgun with a high-capacity magazine was recovered from this male, who was later identified as 18-year-old Ossain Gayle, of New Britain. He has been charged by the New Britain State’s Attorney with illegal possession of a firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, interfering with an officer, and other offenses.

Bay County, Florida — On June 4, 2026, Deputies from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office responded ...to the residential property to investigate a domestic disturbance. Upon concluding their initial on-scene investigation, deputies attempted to place the shirtless suspect under arrest. The situation quickly turned volatile as the man physically resisted the responding officers, engaging in a frantic grapple that required multiple deputies to forcefully take him to the ground and place him in handcuffs. Following the chaotic encounter, the Bay County Sheriff's Office formally booked the suspect on an array of criminal charges. Deputy Opens Fire After Suspect Charges With Knife

Azusa, California — On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., San Dimas Sheriff’s Station ...deputies responded to the 5500 block of North Orangecrest Avenue in unincorporated Azusa. The male was later identified as 38-year-old Dilen Flamino. Shortly after deputies arrived on scene, Flamino exited a side gate of the residence armed with a knife in one hand. Flamino was ordered to stop and get on the ground; however, he refused to comply. Flamino, while still armed with the knife, charged directly at a deputy, at which point a deputy-involved shooting occurred. Flamino was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground. Deputies rendered medical aid to Flamino until the arrival of Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel. Flamino was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition. No deputies or other persons were injured during this incident. A knife with an approximate three-inch metal blade was recovered at the scene.
